It isn't the fault of digital. It's the fault of the recording process. Digital has more dynamic range than vinyl but you have to use it. There's no way if both are optimum even if it were on a recording that a stylus with mass can react as quickly as good electronics to dynamics.
Now I suspect we are talking about a very different situation with well recorded high speed analogue tape.
