it occurs with vinyl more often when there is an abrupt change in dynamic contrast. cd doesn't seem to have as much of the effect which flies in the face of those continuously touting cd as having wider dynamic range than LP.
live music of course has it the most but in playback of LPs, it's what i point out to listeners when they express their surprise when jolted by the sudden dynamic swing vinyl playback provides. it really isn't as common with cd.
