Gang,
Look, we read a magazine for entertainment and to seek knowledge.
What I love about this article is that it brings back memories of all those speakers he talked about.
Walt Bender was a friend and he talked me into my first pair of 755's back in the late 80's. I think that they were Carleson's cabinets and they sounded like crap. But a new cabinet a tweak here and there and they sounded great. Not sure why AD took up two spots with the A and C version... but either way it does deserve a spot.
The same person who sold those to me also sold me some really cool Jensen's and then some field coil stuff. Old speakers are fun but they can be a pain also. Altec horns and 604's in general can be a misery in the making. The damn xover and cabinet can set any sane person into panic.

I went to College at Ohio Northern. Ounce considered the end of the world by a comic and you could see Lima from there. My best friend went to OSU and so on the weekends I would go to Columbus and visit the Speaker Company (Now Progressive Audio). We would make speakers out of drivers they had including KEF and some other brands. It was a great place but on my birthday (21) I was there and they had the Quad 57's. I can remember everything about that day, the room, system, smell.
This is what Art is writing about. Something that takes us back to a moment in time that we remember better than others.
These are all fond memories and to me each one needs a place. But remember speakers are only one part of the equation and without support then what is it? Probably less of a memory!
Thanks
Gordon
