Ah shucks!
I've probably become sensitized to absolutist audiophiles and now see them lurking around every corner and in every forum so I've become an easy mark.
But it's so well "known" that...
Switchers are bad.
Transistors are bad.
Op-Amps are bad.
Anything affordable is bad.
PC's are bad.
Ferrite beads are bad.
CD's are bad.
Measurements are bad.
RF is bad.
Zip cord is bad.
Stock power cords are bad.
Fuses are bad.
Wall outlets are bad.
Electricity is bad.
Direct drive turntables are bad.
Digital is bad.
And adding to this list is bad as I'm getting tired of typing...
At this point, after reading AA and Stereophile for years, I'd say that a wind-up 78 player with a decent horn is your best bet since it's vintage, passive, analog (class A!), isolated from the power grid, immune to RFI (including EMP!), free from speaker cables, has no fuses, good at producing a perfectly centered soundstage and free from the plagues in the list above! Well, almost free, it IS direct drive...
