It's interesting, if you read LGs review nowhere does he comment on the music, only the sound. Now there......

..is truly a case of not seeing the forrest for the trees. And you are right, JATP covers many styles.

If one wanted to hear great dixieland, I would refer them to Louis Armstong's Hot Fives and Hot Sevens recordings, for bop, well just about anything would be better.

A record to die for is in now way a passible performance that is nicely recorded and I would argue that this one isn't even passable, IMHO. But these are just matters of taste.
