Yes, true and so have countless others. This is like the local sling shot arcade.
What I find fascinating is how much interpersonal latitude some people allow themselves on chat forums to be insulting and to use language they would _never_ use in person. In addition, any legitimate criticism does not start with calling anyone an idiot. Kind of kills the cred.
In my experience, many who make personal attacks on-line are arm chair tough guys who post attacks to play warrior after a long day saying yessir to their master (wife or boss?). The easiest targets? Anyone who works in their hobby or field of interest that they can critically (and safely) lambast before running to the safety of another room and the latest "Lost" rerun.
Valin seems a favorite and safe target today but the past list is endless. In ten years, its always the same epithets, "so and so's an idiot/cheat/liar/paid puppet for doing, saying,writing _fill in the blank__..." posted by mickey.... its a rotating list. I have an image of some old infirm guy looking up a good safe name to go after and then tossing up some lame troll. Works every time!! "Honey, we're out of HoHo's, I got a good one goin'!" :o)
I've met some of these paper tigers at shows who call others idiots, assholes and thieves on forums. They mutter questions while eyes never leave the floor (Romy). They strike me as nonassertive people who have trouble speaking up or making eye contact. Contrasted with their on line persona you'd think they must have a phone booth and cape at home. Instead, most make do with a screen saver, some fatty snacks and a fake name.
People that use language in posting they would not speak to someone directly might want to keep that where it belongs-on the grade school playground. JMHO of course.
