I ABX'd absolute polarity!

... a couple years ago. With *real* music. I even posted about it, on HydrogenAudio. Too bad only George Louis noticed it!

Now having heard its effect, I can state with confidence that I don't give a damn if my music is in correct polarity or not. For these reasons:

* With the sample I listened to, it was a fantastically minor effect to ascertain. I could spend the rest of my life blissfully unaware of its existence.

* It was much harder to determine the effect on some setups compared to others. Most notably, it was a lot harder to ABX it on my "expensive" source compared to my "cheap" source. Given the known possibility of even-harmonic distortion being a big culprit in the audibility, and the very large volumes I needed to detect audibility, I was pretty thoroughly convinced by a few people that if polarity reversal is particularly evidence on some equipment, it is likely to be evidence that that equipment is inferior in some way.

There are other reasons too but those are the big ones. There were a few legitimate complaints about my test setup, but I haven't been concerned enough to redo the ABX tests. It's convinced me, at least. I figure given all the talk about polarity recently yall should at least know about it too.
