We already do a bit of that with the German online magazine fairaudio.de. I translate a select number of their reviews (25 so far), translate them from the original German into English and then 'syndicate' them on 6moons. I've long since had the open offer to engage in bidirectional syndication with other foreign-language publications.
The obvious issue is the translation bit. It requires more than a grasp of the language. You have to be *intimately* familiar with colloquialisms and slang and between-the-lines humor and play on words to do a good job retaining the original writer's voice. And, you gotta know audiophilish or you won't catch mistakes if you just translate with a lexicon at hand.
It's a good (and easy) idea but implementing it has its very real challenges. The owner of the original content likely won't speak the language his properties are translated into. For him/her to feel comfortable with the quality of the translation work (ongoing and not just a "get the deal" bang-up job on the first go-around and then standards are subsequently slipping) requires a trusted safety mechanism.
Putting that mechanism in place is a colossal challenge. But - it's a good idea. Which is why we're already doing some of it. And, it'd be great to see others doing more of it. It's one world. We might as well act like it and jump the English language barrier...
