I'm hardly an "old boy," or an "insider," but I have to disagree with your assessment. Hikejohn's post had a line in it about reviewer's accepting too much BS from manufacturers, which is probably where the problem with the post for many people comes from. that statement, which I paraphrase (and thus admittedly have gotten wrong), implies to many, particularly given the history of gratuitous attacks accusing corruption and influence-buying by reviewers around here, that there is a back-room deal that happens between the mags and the manufacturers. I certainly would defend aggressively if I were accused of such behavior in my business, and you probably would too.

Keep in mind that just because you think your interpretation is the right one doesn't mean you are. You may be, but you should keep the disagreement to the point of the post and the potential misinterpretation contained within, rather than conclude that the world is no more than a bunch of reviewer panderers versus the righteously indignant.
