"You have changed your story each post first there were no dealers and now there are two. first it was value in the review and now something else. May be if you made up your mind as to how to help you someone can. I would be happy to try when and if you want something that I carry and you would want to visit sunny florida."You are mistaken, and this may be the root of your problem - failure to carefully read. Here is what I initially wrote: "The question is what is an audiophile to do IF THERE ARE NO DEALERS IN THEIR AREA AT WHICH THEY CAN AUDITION EQUIPMENT, THEREBY ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITY OF LISTENING TO EQUIPMENT AT A DEALER."
Please note that I did not write me, I wrote "an audiophile." I'll accept your mea culpa. Herein lies the difference between us. Things are somewhat dire relative to high end audio dealers in my small burgh of over a million people in the area, having but one high end audio dealer. I wrote of those really unfortunate souls who have none. Zip. Nada. I sympathize with them, and understand their plight. On the other hand, why is it that those from areas of the country who have many dealers from which to audition gear are so cavalier about auditioning equipment? I posit that it is because they are too arrogant to see beyond their own little world, and their situation in life should be the rule.
Secondly, I never wrote that there were two dealers in my area. I wrote that there was one from which I purchased speakers, and a second, nine hours away by car, from which I purchased an amp, not that there were two dealers in my area, unless you interpret "nine hours away" or "five hours away" as "in my area." I'll accept your second mea culpa.
Thirdly, you previously stated that I should try to become acquainted with a dealer, presumably out of town, that would allow me to borrow equipment to audition, and now inform me that if I am ever in sunny Florida, I should stop in. Who is talking out of both sides of their storefront? Apparently, 4-5k is not enough for you to follow your own suggestions, which was my point, apparently missed by you.
I am curious, though. If a consumer called your store, offered to purchase a component, unheard, because they had no local dealers, would you refuse to sell to that consumer, on the grounds that doing so was a recipe for disaster, and you refuse to be a part of the disaster? Or would you make the sale, your principles having a price tag?
