That creates a comfortable environment for advertisers who may be "investing" in a magazine for many years ... and want very little risk that one negative review will kill their multi-year investment.
The purpose of advertising supported audio magazines is to make money.
That is done by pleasing the advertisers since the subscribers account for a small percentage of the sales revenue.
Any magazine that almost never prints a negative review can not be taken seriously as a tool for helping audiophiles identify above average audio equipment values.
The failure to clearly differentiate between below average, average and above average sound quality per Dollar invested is evidence of reviewer incompetence.
We must assume the reviewers are unable, or unwilling, (or both) to clearly identify average and below average components (apparently in the high-end audio fantasy world virtually all components are seen as 'above average' through the reviewers rose colored glasses?).
