"My question to YOU is - how do you intellectually distinguish the Continuum from the Simon Yorke (The Series 7 won 1998 Analog Product of the Year) and the Rockport Technologies (Sirius III won the 2000 Analog Product of the Year)?"
I am not aware of the circumstances of the reviews (if that's what they were) of those products. However if the reviews violated SF's own stated and well publicised (by themselves) review policy... as now appears to be the case with the Caliburn - thanks for the answer... then I would think the expression Two wrongs make a right would apply.
Now allow me to say that I've very little interest in elaborating on the meaning of "wrong" based upon what I believe a reasonable assumption that most rational persons wouldn't object to its usage in the case where a publication is found to be negligent in the application of its own stated review policy... after all it's their policy! Of course if it were a case of simple error, one that the publication acknowledged and took actions to avoid in future then that would be a different matter. In such a case I'd agree that "wrong" would be a little unfair.
BTW if you would be so kind as to elaborate on the Simon Yorke and Rockport Technologies cases I would be interested in what you have to say.
Thanks again,
Best,
