I think that Stereophile has a different policy when it comes to their columnists. Michael Fremer, Art Dudley, John Marks, Sam Tellig ... I believe that they are a little more free to explore, but I'd really need JA to chime in on this one.

You'll notice, as well, that this is the case for Simon Yorke turntables, two of which have garnered excellent reviews from Michael in recent years. To my knowledge the distributor for Simon Yorke doesn't offer a 30 Day MBG.

You'll also recall in 2000 his review of the Rockport System Sirius III, which was sold factory direct only and had no MBG.

As for Magico, I can't opine. But it hasn't proven to be an impediment ... cream always rises to the top, and Alon has proven that he has the right stuff.
