I think the poster is confusing something he was told. With Stereophile,
the magazine's owner subcontracts the sales and preparation of all reprints
to a company called Wrights Reprints. This covers both paper reprints and
pdfs. And yes, I believe Wrights' fees are "significant." That is not
something those of us not in corporate management have any control over,
unfortunately.

However, while we do not allow manufacturers to post our copyrighted
material on their websites, we welcome manufacturers linking to the
reprints on our website and we do not charge a fee for doing so. It is
FREE.
