...particularly with all the amateur reviewers working for many of the newer audio review sites.

When I was at TAS, everything anyone on the staff said or did seemed to get back to HP, and if you were out of line, you heard about it.

When I was relatively new to TAS, I recall having a speaker to review and wanting something equivalent to compare it to. So I called a local speaker manufacturer across town and asked him if I could borrow a pair of his for a couple of weeks. I told him why I wanted them and that he'd get a mention in the magazine. Before I knew it, HP was on the phone asking me what the hell I was doing because the manufacturer had called him.

These days, it doesn't seem like anyone cares at many of the publications, TAS today included.
