Even "in town" my story's the same as yours. Did finally switch from dial-up to Clearwire RF which is better, at least if the trees are dormant or it doesn't rain or blow. Their sites are low so you're going right through the canopy.

Even the Clearwire salesman was shaking his head over what a bad deal internet access was here compared to the rest of the world, especially Asia. I suppose it's just part of living in the last days of an empire.
