HowdyI don't know why anyone would take my post as you did. I'm not bragging and I'm not in any contest:
A few clarifications.
I was agreeing with Rick W that rlw couldn't download the whole file in 4 seconds with the simple fact that no one has that kind of home network access for any sane amount of money (or perhaps at all.)
I was also confirming that the 4 seconds was likely the time it took to get the first page up in the reader, so the complaint that others have that Acrobat is always slow is also not necessarily true.
Then when people asked questions I simply answered them.
I get no tax breaks for being a mod. I get nothing except that Rod has put me up (with another mods, two to a room) in a Day's Inn for CES once.
I used to have DSL and I was 15000 ft from the local switch so I was surprised it worked. There was no upfront cost, I chose a month to month plan initially ($29) and then changed to a year minimum to get a lower month to month rate ($15).
With FIOS there is no upfront cost, but to get the cheapest rate ($29 here) you have to sign up for a year.
No one is going to get dropped for too much access on FIOS (unless they try to use home rates to run a server or business.) There is a huge amount of bandwidth on direct fiber to the house, it's not like DSL or cable or satellite or cell, etc. But it will take time for phone companies to replace all of the copper with fiber, after all it took decades to put in the copper in in the first place. I respect Verizon for spending the $800/house that it takes to do FIOS without directly charging us. They are certainly betting that people will use their services for a while.
I also pay a ridiculous amount ($49/month) for a cell based wireless network service which gets me about 380 kbits/sec anywhere I can receive or make a cell call. It's saved my hide a time or two (once when we were stranded with a blown engine in the desert I used it to find the best dealerships to go to to buy a new car (the closest was a Ford 50 miles away, I chose a Subaru at 150 miles, my wife and I caught a ride by chance.)
Anyway I'm rambling, but I'm still a little puzzled by your post. I spend gobs of money on SACDs too (I have thousands) and I answer questions over on Hi-Rez about whether this disk has MC or a drop out at such and such a place or..., but people don't give me crap for mentioning that I have thousands of discs or that they can't get them because I've beat them to the store :)
