I'd say the future is more akin to what TONE Audio is doing.

Similar to what Playback is doing (or perhaps more appropriately, Playback is similar to what TONE has been doing for two years now), but a bit more "pure" in that it's not tied to any print publication or supplementing its content with hand-me-downs.
