thanks for the response, yoav.

what i've really been trying to get to is that if we are after 'sound', that's one thing, but if we are after the best way to 'get' a recording, the best musical 'communication', for me it seems that 2 channel stereo was not a step in the right direction, even given the known advantages that you guys mention above (whereas for most people 2 channel is described as a quantum leap over one channel).
