More bad news I'm afraid ...

John Elison over in the Vinyl forum has performed measurements on a Denon DL-103R (close to the basic DL-103, just different wire in the coils) and has come up rather surprised that it measures well, pertty much on par with the OC9ML/II even in distortion measurements where he expect the OC9ML/II to excel due to its superior stylus profile; continue reading down the fragment link provided below for the distortion measurement related post. It's no secret that John is a very vocal advocate of the OC9ML/II was also known for not being particularly positive about the DL-103/R pickups due to supposed inferior design.

Of course had it measured badly that would have had no bearing the fact that many listeners favor the Denons for sonic reasons, but it is also true that from a strickly objective perspective your hubris appears unjustified.
