In your case, I would advise you stick with the speaker level inputs. Voltage on the speaker lines is nice and high, so you don't need a whole ton of gain on the sub amp, whereas if you put the resistors in to add a mono output, you would loose significant voltage on the resulting output, thus requiring a lot more from your sub amp, and consequently screwing your S/N....just a thought.
