Met Poly caps as last stage in PS - Questions for the Experts

Our recent success with using 52u metalized poly caps in the final position in the Foreplay power supply has me wondering about PS cap sizes.
In some of my power supplies where my third cap in a CLCRC is an electrolytic in the 82u range (and the first two total around 180u), Duncan PSUd2 shows I can drop down to 10u in the third position without getting any appreciable ripple.
Does the cap still need to be bigger than 10u for some other reason? Charge storage?
Does the presence of a C4S right after the last cap make a met poly a waste of money?
