I followed the recent discussion about horn speakers using full-range drivers like the Fostex 103 and the Buschhorn enclosure. I built the Buschhorn MKII and was impressed how a little single driver can play music with only an inexpensive correction network for the midrange peak.
In the meantime I found the design of the Buschhorn MK3 on the net, bulit it as well and wooooow. This design is using a second driver to improve bass and to support the Fostex below 200 Hz. The second driver is a Monacor SPP 100/8 which costs 22Euro in Germany, so it´s only a small additional investment. The bass driver is working direktly into a front loaded horn while the Fostex driver has his own small enclosure in the front of the box. I´m using this combination without any correction, both speakers in parallel direkt linked to my Dynaco ST70 preamplified by my FP. It´s amazing how much better this speaker works in comparison with the former Buschhorn design. Give it a try and you will entirely agree to my impression.
