More on Dual Output Transformers in Paramours

207.172.11.233

I took the day off from work (heck, I already have put in 65 hours this week!) and thought I'd install the pair of output trannies that Dave Cope gave me for my Paramours. I opted to hook up the .625 watt(yellow) primaries in series as well as the 8 ohm(white) secondaries. Installation went smoothly except for having to extend the leads, with the new transformers mounting next to the originals. I had, previous to the initial assembly, drilled out a hole for the wires centered between the two transformers and filled it with a rubber grommet. The new transformers were mounted on small grommets, not shoulder washers like the originals.
First listening revealed the general reaction to this mod: increased dynamics and extension in the nether regions! Pleasing to me was the increase in midrange clarity- a result of less low freq. smear and masking, I guess. This was with the stock Valve Arts. Now I'm going to go back and listen to the TJ's.
Thanks alot VoltSecond and Paul J. for the discussion on this subject a few weeks ago. I am happy with this set-up for the taps but will try some other combos when the mod itch strikes again.
