Re: C4S'ing the Paramour

65.3.184.22

I spent my one day a month at World Headquarters today, and among other things we tried a bunch of Paramour variations on the scope. Yes, the C4S is worth it - all by itself it kills most of the hum. Rather surprisingly, the Sino 2A3's were quieter than the mesh plate AVVT's. The best we saw was about 5mV peak to peak hum; the meshies were closer to 13mV - all of which is much better than stock. The power supply isolation from the C4S is a really big advantage, at least on the scope.

We ran the C4S at 4mA (250 ohms for R1), with a series resistor between B+ and the C4S - I didn't get the value, but it must have been about 27k, 2watts. This was without any cap from that junction to ground, which would increase the PSRR even more.
