DONE! - Paramour is C4S'd

64.20.112.211

Hello all. Just wanted to report back the findings (You old timers know in advance what I'm about to type)

Setup: dropping resistor > C4S > dropping resistor (David Home's suggestion) on half the 12AT7 only. Other half grounded. 5mA.

Sound: WHOA! Background became black (note I've not installed V2's hum redution circuit) causing transients to attack. Bass is tighter, faster, better. I'm tickled.

The only drawback is that clipping is much rougher with this setup. I don't know why. The other circuit was more graceful in overload, but hey, we're not supposed to be operating in that region anyway. I am glad there are horns in this world as I am not going to give up this sound just for more power.

Has everyone listened to their favorite "Also Sprach Zaruthstra" (sp?) today? I did. You need to see my big grin.

Thanks Bottlehead Corp. Happy New Year!

Jeffrey

ps - hey Paul, the hum in the transformer disappeared. Snubber goes in and hum starts. C4S goes in and it stops. I guess it was a chassis plate/wood base mounting thing.
