Hello, VoltSecond.
My 2c worth:
in my experience, a larger electrolytic cap in a tube component's power supply will provide firmer bass but will add a haze/distortion to the midrange/treble.
Try paper in oil or metallized polypropilene motor start caps. I have found that they sound much cleaner than 'lytics in my tube preamp.
Paper in oil GE surplus caps are cheap and plentiful, sound super IMO.
If you must use 'lytics, use several smaller ones in paralell, the ESR and ESL will be reduced.
Good luck
