I'm playing with Paramour's coupling cap on the 2A3's grid.

63.225.202.244

I did not take any parts out during this experiment. I only added parts.

I added an Aeon 0.33 uF tin foil 630V across the existing coupling cap from the driver to the grid of the output tube. At the same time I also added a 230K across the existing resistor from A3 to Terminal 14.

I found a small bag of 230K resistors in a few seconds in my junk box. I could not find any 220K, 240K and 270K resistors before I ran out of patience. The 0.33 uF Aeon came from a local custom speaker shop and was about the smallest value they had a pair of.

The volume levels seemed a little lower but the sound was bit smoother and bit more detailed. I did notice a slight mid-bass issue with this hook up that I have not figured out. I'll try removing the stock coupling capacitor this weekend to see it that improves the mid-bass.

I’m using Patricia Barber’s “Companion” tracks 2 and 3 for most of my comparisons. II found my copy new for $9.99. It’s a good disk for both music and for auditioning components. I'll probably be sick of tracks 2 and 3 by the time I'm done playing with the Paramour.
