Thanks Matts, Paul & Grainger. Just to be sure I've got it right, I now intend to keep all three 220 uF caps in the power supply chassis, the third (innermost) of which is a nice Mundorf "Power Tank", and then I'll place an "additional" cap in the audio chassis, 47 uF for that one, in parallel with the Mundorf "Power Tank". Grainger, as you might expect, I have no idea what ESR means. I hope that ignorance doesn't mess me up.
Again, my current less-than-confident plan is to keep all three 220 uF caps, the innermost ("last"?) seriously upgraded, in the power supply chassis, and add a 47 uF cap in parallel with that last cap in the audio chassis. If this is misguided or somehow wrong, please inform me ASAP. Thanks again for this design help.
