I wasn't aware of the 3dB noise addition. Thanks! I'll make it easy to change the circuit between SE and PP just in case there is a problem.

Question 2 if you would care to address this: Is there a problem using a C4S at the first stage of a phono pre? A long time ago there were questions about noise of the C4S circuit. I would be running enough current so that I would not be able to use the quiet transistor (sorry for the lack of terminology; I'm at work and don't have the C4S manual in front of me.) I do use Voltsecond's aluminum 100uF cap across the LED's. And are noise considerations different if I use it as a sink instead of a source?
