Loctal tube in octal socket?

Reading the previous post about 7N7's in the Foreplay got me thinking. Can I put a loctal tube into an octal socket or are the pins on the loctal tube too thin? I've never seen a loctal base tube in the flesh so I'm sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks,
