More Seduction C4S trouble, alas

I realize that the Bottlehead crew will have more important VSAC stuff to deal with right now, and I'll repost later to catch their wisdom. But in case anyone else can help, I've just installed a second C4S module in my Seduction, and am getting silence from the output jack furthest from the transformer, called chassis front in the manual, I believe, and too quiet a signal, though undistorted, from the mid-chassis output jack. On the C4S board, the inner LED's, the pair closest to chassis middle, don't light--did once, briefly, then never again, and the B3-B8 LED in the main chassis also doesn't light. This is surely a clue, though one I'm too ignorant to read. I should add that when I removed the first C4S board and restored the four 18K ohms resistors that came out when it went in, the sound was fine and all four main chassis LED's lit. I'm also sure that the C4S LED's are not in backwards. Is this upgrade module my Waterloo? Can anyone advise?
