what 98db speakers are you referring to?

I would sport for a pair of Altecs off ebay, but at the price, which often is reasonable, I do not feel comfortable rolling the dice in terms of used condition. If they had to go for rework, any savings goes up the flue. I believe that SET amps are sweet enough, that to me, they seem to cry out for Alnico motors, in cone drivers. The difference with them is astounding to my ears. So far, I would say the most "delicious" cone speaker I have heard with SET are the Tone Tubby Alnico guitar speakers. Maybe I should stick with them, and a high sensitibity tweeter rolled in ~4kHz
