Its interesting you bring up how cheap the str8's woofers look, I priced them at the time I bought the kit from doc and I was supprised.
I still brag about these speakers today, not only for using with sets but I will also drag them into to watch a movie with using a 15 watt fisher amp. One of my best moments had to be after I put together a linn tt using a garrott fsm cart. I had spend 50 cents on a dukes of dixieland recorded at carnagi? hall anywho after the guys start jaming and the lead vocalist introduces the band I freaked when he walked back to his chair and the space that was between him and the other intruments was incredible. A good one that brought tears was allan parsons project (it had a green cover) but that album was bad a$$ for dynamics. That album really shows off the quality of the straight 8's.
I had them up for sale one time for only 20 minutes, I came around real quck.
