Thanks for mentioning good music that I've never heard!
I get emotional over what I'm hearing quite often, especially with SET amps. I'm kind of a young dude who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, so my exposure to more "elegant" music written by well-educated, well-performing artists who are removed from popular culture is a slow metamorphosis. Newer recordings by such musicians as Ani DiFranco (Reprieve, Evolve) and Neko Case (Fox Confessor Brings The Flood, Blacklisted) are the ones taking my soul for a ride. Of course, there is plenty of good stuff that was made before I was born...
Now, there are all kinds of emotional responses to be had - some are even disturbing at first...like the first time I heard music played through a wooden Grado cartridge on a Rega P3 through an ST-70 and Klipsch Cornwalls. The record was a very early pressing of The Beatles' "Revolver." The music was so life-like to me that I felt like I was actually making first-hand contact with an event that had happened a decade before I was born. I felt like I'd seen ghosts. I literally had to turn the music off for a moment so that I could adjust. Needless to say, I got used to it. Now I am addicted.
