Altec/Great Plains 604 -- Anyone Heard/Used

The Great Plains Altec 604 coaxial is priced at 1500/pr with crossovers. Considering these drivers are in another league altogether, it seems to me they represent similar value to the B'head stuff; I know Yamamoto offers them in an open baffle and a 7ft^3 reflex box, wondering if any one has heard them, or is using them with their gear, and has any thoughts on the matter. 99db/w would turn even the SEX amp into a monster. It amazes me that for ~2200- one could put together a KILLER amp/speaker combo of say, Paramour + Altec 604... just wondering..
