I tried that and it did drop the noise noticably. I still don't own a 'scope, so all comparisons are done by ear, unfortunately.
What I'm refering to is a tidbit that I originally gleaned from Morgan Jones in his book, "Building Valve Amplifiers." I refer to page 122: "AC heater wiring should be connected to the transformer in a balanced fashion. Unfortunately, heater wiring MUST have a DC path to 0V in order to define the heater to cathode voltage..." He then shows three ways to achieve this: using a center-tapped filament supply, a pot or a pair of matched resistors to chassis ground.
I was under the impression that this was standard practice and was wondering why it hadn't beed done in the Paramour? Am I missing something or has my conformist mind simply been blown by the evil geniuses at Bottlehead?
