The modified Seduction preamp reportedly works great as a tape preamp in non pro applications. If it fits the budget, just build a modified Seduction and enjoy!

If you can wait a few months and don't mind spending a bit more money, the Seduction II preamp kit will use basically the same gain stage and B+ regulation as the pro version tape preamp. It think it will be offered as a basic kit without the high end parts or the pro level balanced outputs which add a surprising amount of complexity and cost but is normally required for studio applications. The Seduction II can be modified just like the current Seduction preamp can.
