Time to test with your meter. Measure the resistance of the Goldpoint.

"Top" to "Bottom" is full resistance and the wiper is the variable resistance.

And like Gaspode says, maybe the Goldpoints have failed. But not probably if they are new. Gaspode has had his in service for years.
