Your function generator is your high impedence source. The output impedence is probably 600 ohms, low in a tube hifi circuit, but high compared to a loudspeaker. The resistor matches the impedence of the driver to the generator. Even though you wind up working with a fraction of a volt, you can get any parameter you need. Added mass is the easiest way to get your Vas numbers. Happy calculating. PS, this is not spam, I don't work for them or have stock in the company, but Parts Express' Woofer Tester is the greatest thing since Ma Bell played Toscanini thru a horn speaker. Although it's possible to have a system conflict if you have Nero installed. ttfn
