Hang in there. Believe it or not you are progressing.
Looking at the schematic and your quote about rising resistance... Q: With the meter leads on A1 and A4 (across the cathode/heater) you get a rising resistance reading?
That would mean that some how you are also reading a ground there and are charging the cathode capacitor.
Can you verify the cap and resistor are both tied to T12 and T11? By that I mean to measure from the cap lead to the terminal, etc. (4 times).
