The EHs are what I have settled upon. The first time I tried them they would not pull the proper current and they had absolutely no bass. But after cooking them in a while apparently the cathodes formed and they now work very nicely with great bass and they are very quiet. In the search for a current production tube I also looked at the JJ EF806. Unfortunately they were too noisy in this application. Cooking them in did not seem to help. I understand that JJ is looking into some changes.
