Several years ago I started a listening room in a detached 1940s garage next to our house. It got sidetracked by a temporary move to a new office in 2000 and then many, many other projects. A couple weeks ago we hauled all of the junk out that had piled up over the years, to renew the project in earnest.
The good thing about the delay in this project is that I have learned a quite a bit about listening rooms in the meantime, and this one should come out pretty good. There will be double layers of sheet rock, and acoustic treatment similar to the mastering rooms at 1340 Mission. Just as Paul and Micheal did down there, we will set up a system and shoot the room periodically as we progress to determine where we need to make adjustments. The room is on the smaller size at about 19-1/2' x 11-1/2', but Paul says he has had great sounding mastering rooms that were about that size, and not to worry. The Magnolia room at the studio is only a little bigger and it's a fabulous room.
Dunno how fast this will progress as my plate is really heaped this spring. Any local contractors out there looking for a nice stereo?
