test drive an amp?

I have a question. I am thinking that a I might like to move into a tub amp for my system, but not having any experience it is hard to say??

I live in the se houston tx area - any tube heads in the area that would let me come by and listen to your system?

My current system is a 2238b marantz with altecs 806/811 and 416, 16 ohms.

I am so ignorant about tubes that I don't even know if I could hear any improvement? Don't know if P/P or SET is right for me??

If you can offer any suggestions? I think I could build a kit, I did build my speakers and xos.
