S.E.X amp with turntable output

I finished my S.E.X. and am running a Pro-Ject turntable via a NAD phono-preamp through Heresy II's. I have to turn it up pretty much all the way to get it to a listen-able volume. I've checked all the connections, & the volume through another amp confirms it's the S.E.X. It's plenty loud with a CD player. What am I missing? Would a Foreplay help boost the signal?
