Hi guys. I would like to ask a clarifying question about your plan--or plans--for a 45 amp. Back in October, you indicated that a 45 amp based upon the Paramount was in the works:
"The available current and voltage from the Paramount power supply will allow for the following combinations (plus a bunch of other driver and output tubes choices like 6DN7, 50, etc., etc.) ....... active loaded shunt regulated driver with cap coupled active loaded 45 - shunt reg regulates driver and 45. This has not been fully developed, still in hand waving stage. I think it's going to be one of the best amps we've ever done."
More recently, you mentioned a single-chassis stereo amp:
"It will be based on the Paramour II design, but on a single chassis with a single power transformer. And PJ is working on a design for a new output transformer to replace the Speco. And there will be a 240V mains version. I should mention that PJ will be abroad for a good portion of the spring, and between VSAC preparations and tape machine business we have a pretty full plate. So it is a little tough to say just when this product will be ready. But it will be this coming year. And we may indeed take pre-orders once we get the costing and timing worked out."
So do you plan 2 45 amps (one based upon Paramount, another stereo amp based upon Paramour)? or perhaps did you like the shunt-regulated 45 amp based on the Paramour II so much that you decided to go with a stereo amp instead?
Just curious. I've finally decided to buy some speakers that ought to work with a 45, so I'm looking at options. Of course, Bottlehead is the preferred option. Hopefully a Paramount-based 45!
Dave
