Our poster Paully hated having to fool with the mono volume controls. So we put a stereo 100k ohm volume pot after the two mono pots.

That is, the signal comes from the RCA inputs, through the selector switch, to the mono pots (run as wide open as possible after the mod) then instead of going to pin 3 (I think) of each tube it goes to the stereo volume pot.

The input receives the signal, the wiper feeds the grids of the VA stage and the bottom of the pot is grounded.

You adjust the balance by moving the mono pot of the louder channel down, and control overall volume with the stereo pot.
