I built a switchbox for a friend to use. It is an Elma switch (04-1261) that switches the signal (center conductor) only. The grounds are all tied togehter. The coax shield is only attached at the one end to provide shielding. It is wired so the center input is when the switch is centered at 12:00. One click to the right gives you the right inputs and one to the left of center gives you the left inputs. The piece you see in the base is a 1/4" steel plate. This keeps it from moving around when you're trying to use it and gives it some heft, so it doesn't feel cheap. It's a psychological thing.
