Okay, in the digital age this will seem like a wild idea, but I really like my old Simpson 260 VOM. There is something really nice about an analog scale, and hey, we embrace old technology here, right? You can pick these up on ebay for not a lot of cash. Yes, you have to be carful to connect the leads correctly, but most have over load protection. Also very useful if you're adjusting bias in an amp - more so than a digital read out.
