I have a few:
a Toshiba with the Swenson mods (substitute high quality caps for the output section) - pretty decent sound and cheap. It lacks fine resolution, but it really gets the rhythm and pacing and has a nice tone.
an NAD C541i - a huge step up from the Toshiba, especially in resolution. These things are a great bang for the buck. I have it playing through the SEX right now and they make beautiful music together.
a Marantz SA-8260 - a gentle step up from the NAD, but it also has SACD which sounds almost as good as vinyl and better in some respects. The tone is really sweet on this. I think, however, that some of the newer players to come along in the last couple of years could probably surpass it for the same $ investment. Obviously, the sky is the limit on these things, but for me this was a great compromise between breaking the bank and quality sound.
